Course Description

History of Western Art 2 | Learn about the development of architecture, painting, sculpture and secondarily, landscape architecture in the Western World from the Renaissance to the present. Textbook information available at AACC Bookstore. CEUs issued. $382 includes $10 fee. Note: All sections also offered for credit, ART-210.

Learner Outcomes

Discuss the works of artists from the fifteenth century and describe the principles of the Proto-Renaissance and Baroque art in Italy, Spain, Flanders, Holland and England; Describe the works and principles of the artists, architects and sculptors of the High Renaissance, the Mannerist period, the Renaissance of the North and the Venetian Period; Compare and contrast the principles of the 19th and 20th century periods of Classicism, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism and Dadaism; Identify and discuss the International Style in architecture; Explain the changes in styles and principles in painting, sculpture and architecture.
