Course Description

Landscape Painting | Learn the fundamentals of creating a successful landscape painting by working plein air at local parks and nature areas. Topics include painting techniques and modes, formal elements, color in the environment, and spatial structure and composition. $392 includes $20 fee. Note: Sections also offered for credit, ART-281.

Learner Outcomes

Identify and discuss painting techniques and modes; Identify and discuss the nature of oil paint and how it can be applied to various surfaces; Compare and contrast working directly on a white ground versus colored grounds and underpainting; Identify and discuss warm versus cool color practical applications to painting; Identify and discuss techniques to develop paintings quickly alla prima (wet-on-wet).
