Course Description

RN, CM/DN Training Program in Assisted Living | Maryland Board of Nursing-approved course required for nurses wanting to be RN case managers or delegating nurses in the assisted living setting. The RN CM/DN meets the requirements to delegate nursing functions including medication administration, and also to supervise the medication technician. The nurse will be authorized to teach the 20-hour Medication Administration Training Program to the medication technician (MT) working in the assisted living setting. CEUs issued. $298 includes $48 fee. Download a copy of the Nurse Practice Act booklet from www.mbon.org and the Assisted Living COMAR Regulations 10.07.14 available at www.dsd.state.md.us. Note: This course is only approved for assisted living delegating nurse requirements. It does not satisfy the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) requirements for School Health, Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), or Corrections delegating nurse training.

Learner Outcomes

Discuss the role and responsibilities of the Case Manager/Delegating Nurse in the Assisted Living environment; Identify the responsibilities of the Case Manager/Delegating Nurse when teaching medication administration to the Medication Technician; Discuss key components of case management; Describe the process of delegation of nursing practice; Recognize potential legal, ethical and business issues related to the delegation of nursing practice.
