Course Description

Advanced Gas Tungsten Arc Welding: Pipe | Learn techniques required of a qualified TIG pipe welder: proper tacks and feather edging, filler metal angles, manipulations for open root pipe welding and welding on carbon steel pipe with the GTAW process. Train with ER70S carbon steel solid wire with upward progression. Train to ASME IX, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code in the 6G position on carbon steel. Passing the certification test makes you eligible for an all-position ASME welder qualification. CEUs and Earlbeck Certificate of Completion issued. $2,750 includes $2,386 fee. Prerequisites: OPT-394 Fundamentals of Welding Certified Training and OPT-396 Intermediate MIG Welding Training, or OCC-345 Welding for Work Stick, or permission of instructor. Note: Must be 18 or older to enroll. Fire-retardant pants and shirt, hard-toe boots and safety goggles required. Learner Outcomes

Perform safety inspection of equipment, accessories and laboratory; Set machinery to desired polarity and current settings; Construct pad welds in 2G, 5G and 6G positions with GTAW and create open root plate groove welds in the 2G, 3G and 4G positions with GTAW; Prepare complete pipe welds in 2G, 5G and 6G positions with GTAW; Practice pipe welding techniques to ASME IX, boiler and pressure Vessel Code standards in the 6G position on carbon steel.

Notices

Self-registration for Earlbeck welding courses ends one month prior to their start date. Dependent upon facility capacity, registration after that date may be arranged with the Apprenticeship and Applied Learning Department at ccit@aacc.edu or 410-777- 2970.

Prerequisites

Registration for OPT-376 requires successful completion of OPT-397: Intermediate TIG Welding Certified Training, CIT-328: Intermediate TIG Welding Certified Training, OCC-346: Welding for Work: - TIG, CIT-336: Welding for Work: - TIG or permission of instructor.
