Course Description

Prepare for the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (C.F.E.R.) exam. Learn about the role of a flexible endoscope reprocessor. Identify the components of microbiology and how it relates to flexible endoscope reprocessing. Learn about cleaning methods, preparation procedures and endoscope sheath usage. Identify post-disinfection and general leak-testing procedures. $330 includes $30 fee. CEUs issued. Prerequisite: A signed letter from your employer on company letterhead stating any one of the following criteria have been met: Completion of 12 months of full-time employment or the equivalent part-time hours processing flexible endoscopes (provide verification signed by your manager on your exam application); completion of an endoscopy technician course with a minimum of 16 hours and a grade of 70 or higher (provide copy of certificate/grade from your instructor) and six months of full-time employment or equivalent part-time hours in related allied health (clinical health care profession) performing endoscopy activities in an endoscopy setting (provide verification signed by your manager on your exam application); or completion of an endoscopy technician course with a minimum of eight hours and a grade of 70 or higher (provide copy of certificate/grade from your instructor) and six months experience processing flexible endoscopes. Note: Students must purchase the required textbook: “The Basics of Flexible Endoscope Reprocessing,” 2nd edition.

Prerequisites
