Course Description

Rising Atmospheric CO2 and Global Warming | Examine global warming, the physical basis, impacts, methods for control of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), reduction of atmospheric GHG concentration and potential lines of research into mitigation and risks of geoengineering. $33 includes $32 fee.  Note: Requires membership in Peer Learning Partnership (PLP). Biannual membership is $30.

Learner Outcomes

Discuss the theory and technical developments that led to the discovery of global warming; Explore the influences of humans on the climate system; Examine the role of temperature, melting polar ice caps and mountain glaciers on sea level rise; Review the methods by which the rate of CO2 emissions from burning fossil fuels can be reduced; Examine the role of uncertainty on the public perception of the science of climate change.
