Internet Essentials for Computer-shy Senior Citizens | Safely learn the basics of navigating the internet for practical day-to-day uses in a welcoming, supportive setting. Learn to communicate with doctors, set up an email account and stay safe while online. Note: Access to an iPad, Chrome notebook or desktop will be available in class. Students are welcome to bring a personal device. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.Learner Outcomes
Identify three basic internet terminologies and discuss ways that the internet can be used to improve the daily life of a senior citizen; Experiment with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge and practice how to open, close and navigate a browser; Describe three ways to recognize a secure website and discuss how to avoid scams and phishing; Set up an email account and practice sending and receiving emails; Execute signing into a medical portal and searching for personal health information.Loading...
