Course Description

Examine the proper conditioning procedures for the most common flowers used in floral design. Determine product freshness, identify common and botanical names of flowers and foliage, and explore the industry standard products used when handling them. $101+ includes $32 fee. Note: If you cannot attend, a course drop form must be completed, submitted and received by the college no later than seven calendar days prior to the course start date in order for a refund to be issued. Learner Outcomes

Demonstrate the proper conditioning procedures for the ten most used flowers in floral design, including five tropical and five seasonal flowers; Identify and describe the proper handling processes for twenty types of flowers and foliage, with a focus on their unique characteristics and needs; Determine the proper environmental conditions, including temperature and humidity, for five different types of flowers and five types of foliage; Identify and explain the use of three industry-accepted products that accelerate hydration, protect against bacteria growth, add nutrition, and slow the transpiration of moisture from flowers and foliage.
