Course Description
Dental Assisting Radiology Lab| Learn the basic skills necessary to become an entry-level dental assistant. Set up and maintain dental equipment and materials. Perform infection control procedures. Prepare for the Dental Assisting National Boards Radiation Health and Safety exam. Textbook information available at AACC Bookstore. CEUs issued. $977 includes $477 fee. Prerequisite: OPA-381 Dental Assisting Lecture. Corequisites: OPA-383 Dental Assisting Radiology Lecture and OPA-384 Dental Assisting Radiology Lab Skills. Note: Must have a high school or GED® diploma and be 18 or older to enroll. English as a Second Language students must earn a composite score of 310 or better on the Level of English Proficiency exam, or successfully complete Capstone Level ESL coursework. Additional cost for the Dental Assisting National Board Exam for the Radiation Health and Safety exam and for teal scrubs and shoes.Learner Outcomes
Demonstrate correct use of dental terminology during clinical and simulated scenarios; Perform infection control procedures, including proper sterilization, disinfection, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), following OSHA and CDC standards; Assist in restorative, preventive, and surgical procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques in clinical or simulated settings; Set up, organize, and maintain dental trays, materials, and equipment according to procedural requirements; Practice effective communication with patients in simulated interactions, ensuring professionalism, confidentiality, and patient-centered care.Loading...
