Course Description

Fun with Flowers: Celebration Centerpieces | Elevate your next gathering or big event from ordinary to extraordinary by creating beautiful centerpieces and tablescapes using fresh seasonal flowers. Learn construction techniques and loss prevention in a fun, relaxing atmosphere. $78+ and $45 fee. Note: Class is designed for beginners and anyone that loves flowers. Students should bring pruning shears or floral clippers, a small pocketknife or floral knife, ribbon scissors, wire cutters and a box to carry home arrangements from class. Note: If you cannot attend, a course drop form must be completed, submitted and received by the college no later than seven calendar days prior to the course start date in order for a refund to be issued. Completed course drop forms can be submitted by fax (410-777-4325), mail, online through the noncredit registration site or in-person at one of our registration sites.

Learner Outcomes

Analyze the design style, flower selection and arrangement placement to determine the best construction mechanic to utilize through class discussion; Create special effects using accessories to enhance fresh flower arrangements by designing an arrangement with at least two accessories; Describe two techniques for optimal display life of a floral arrangement; Discuss the three of the latest trends in wedding and event floral centerpieces; Demonstrate the ability to incorporate seasonal flowers into a centerpiece-style floral design by successfully completing one constructed centerpiece.
