Course Description

Diesel Technology I | Explore common hand, power and electronic measuring tools. Employ shop safety operations and procedures in the workplace. Plan inspection, maintenance and minor repair procedures. Obtain OSHA 10 General Industry and CPR/first aid certifications. Textbook information available at AACC Bookstore. CEUs issued. $1,647.00 includes $295 fee. Corequisites: OCA-597 Diesel Technology Part 2, OCA-598 Diesel Technology Part 3 and NRN-332 HeartSaver CPR/First Aid. Note: Must be 18 or older to enroll. Students successfully completing Diesel Technology parts 1, 2 and 3 will be eligible to sit for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Entry Level Inspection, Maintenance and Minor Repair exam. There is an additional cost for NRN-332, HeartSaver CPR/First Aid.

Learner Outcomes

Employ standard shop safety and operations procedures; Describe the benefits of a well-implemented preventative maintenance program; Explain proper fastener selection, installation, and removal techniques in heavy-duty truck applications; Demonstrate safe handling and use of common hand, power and electronic measuring tools; Conduct cooling system inspection and service.

Corequisites: Students must enroll in OCA-596 Diesel Technology Part 1, OCA-597 Diesel Technology Part 2, OCA-598 Diesel Technology Part 3 and NRN-332 HeartSaver CPR/First Aid.
Note: Section 901 is Hybrid with mandatory face-to-face meetings from 6-10 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Center for Applied Learning-North. Class meets at Arnold campus on Mondays, Sep. 21 and Oct. 5. No class Sep. 7-10.
