Course Description

Floral Design: Designing for Distinction | Prepare for competition and certification testing. A live online portion reviews the testing/surprise package competition environment. Analyze judging categories and strategize how to maximize scores. Session meets via Zoom; the following three sessions meet in the classroom. Create designs and have work assessed by certified judging professionals with suggestions for improvement. $468 includes $260 fee. Note: If you cannot attend, a course drop form must be completed, submitted and received by the college no later than seven calendar days prior to the course start date for a refund to be issued.

Learner Outcomes

Analyze three judging criteria used in competitive design assessments and create a written strategy to maximize scoring potential; Participate in a mock competition environment and complete a self-assessment identifying two coping techniques for managing stress under timed conditions during an exam or competition; Draft an action plan that outlines how to use limited materials to produce five distinct design concepts efficiently; Demonstrate at least three time-saving design strategies through a timed mini project and class reflection.
