Course Description

Fundamentals of Ukulele | Learn ukulele fundamentals. Explore a brief history of the ukulele, fundamentals of basic music theory, forms of notation, chord chart reading, major scales and music history with related information of the basics of a variety of genres. All skill levels welcome; beginners are encouraged. Note: Senior Cycle class. Students must be 55 or older by start date to enroll.

Learner Outcomes

Discover the history of the ukulele; Utilize a basic music vocabulary related to playing a chromatic, fretted instrument; Recognize and understand symbols relating to following a score; Demonstrate beginning skills using scales, intervals, basic double and triple meters and simple harmonic progressions; Develop strumming and fingerpicking patterns; Examine the fundamentals of music theory.
