Course Description

Intermediate TIG Welding Certified Training | Gain skills in the gas tungsten arc process. Prepare material and perform flat, horizontal and vertical fillet welds and flat groove welds in carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Geared toward AWS D9.1 specification for fusion welding for aerospace applications. Passing the certification tests qualifies you for AWS D9.1 aerospace code for carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum certification. CEUs and Earlbeck Certificate of Completion issued. $3,025 includes $2,430 fee. Prerequisite: OPT-394 or CIT-325 Fundamentals of Welding Certified Training or permission of instructor. Note: Must be 18 or older to enroll. Fire-retardant pants and shirt, hard-toe boots and safety goggles required. Bring welding gear to class.

Learner Outcomes

Perform safe set up of TIG welding equipment; Explain the differences in TIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum; Demonstrate fillet and groove welds on carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum; Perform AWS D17.1 certification plates on carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel.

Prerequisites

Registration for CIT-328 requires successful completion of OPT-394/CIT-325: Fundamentals of Welding Certified Training, OCC-344/CIT-334: Welding for Work: Stick, OCC-345/CIT-335: Welding for Work: - MIG, OCC-346/ CIT-336: Welding for Work: - TIG, or permission of instructor.
