Course Description
Young Game Designers | Recreate classic video games while exploring level design and digital arts concepts. Experience intuitive, child-friendly software while learning game development. Show off the games you create on a password-protected website with your friends and family! Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. $236+ includes $168 fee. Note: This is a Kids in College course. Check section notes for age requirements.Learner Outcomes
Identify and use various tools in the flowlab interface by modifying existing game levels and editing sprite art in the sprite editor window; Identify appropriate uses of obstacles, collectibles, and game-modifying powerups as well as illustrate that understanding within their video game levels; Understand the importance of appropriate level difficulty and careful puzzle creation and utilize this knowledge in designing their video game levels; Create enemy sprites and construct a basic movement animation; Develop teamwork and cooperation skills.Notices
If your child cannot attend a course or camp, a course drop form must be completed, submitted and received by the college no later than seven calendar days prior to the course or camp start date in order for a refund to be issued. Completed course drop forms can be submitted by fax (410-777-4325), mail, online through the noncredit registration site or in-person at one of our registration sites.
