Course Description

Examine the fundamental principles of American Sign Language. Explore basic sign vocabulary, syntax structure, finger spelling, and numbers. Discuss the origins of sign language. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by the start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Examine the origins and basic principles of American Sign Language (ASL); Demonstrate basic finger spelling and numbers; Construct ASL sentence structures using appropriate grammar; Identify gender related and personal identity signs; Engage in basic dialogues with ASL.
