Learner Outcomes

Summarize the objectives of The Lewis and Clark Expedition commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson in 1804 including the scientific discovery and establishing trade with the Native American tribes; Examine diversity issues (race, gender) from an early 19th-century perspective and identify the racial, ethnic, and social backgrounds of the explorers; List four states the Lewis and Clark trail went through and the present-day city the expedition ended near the Pacific Ocean; Explain the actions and motives of key players, including Napoleon, Jefferson, Lewis, Clark, Expedition members, and key Native Americans; Identify the challenges faced in envisioning, organizing, and implementing such a tremendous undertaking as the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
