Course Description

Workforce Success Skills | Examine common language and examples of expectations for essential workforce skills in a target industry. Topics include dependability, accountability, integrity, communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, adaptability, customer service and professionalism. $238 includes $10 fees.

Learner Outcomes

Describe typical employer expectations of dependability, integrity and accountability commonly found in industry; Explain how teamwork, conflict resolution and communication impact worksite safety, efficiency and work quality; Describe the requirements for providing professional service in your industry including customer service, professionalism and professional growth through adaptability; Identify positive and negative examples of behaviors and outcomes in the target industry; Apply self-assessments, employee, employer and customer perspectives to develop a portfolio of examples in which workforce success skills were successfully demonstrated.

Grading Scale and Grade Reporting This course will use pass/fail scoring with a cumulative grade of 70% required to achieve a grade of pass.; Students must pass this course in order to continue in their program and to be recommended for job opportunities. Grades in this course will be determined based on the following assessments: Type of Assessment Value Career Development Activities Student will complete weekly tasks designed to prepare them for the job search including development of a resume. 25% Skills Application/Participation Students will complete activities designed to teach and reinforce targeted skills during each synchronous meeting.; 25% Scenario Based Discussions Students will read, discuss, and develop a strategy for addressing situational judgement case studies based on real workplace scenarios.; 25% Portfolio Activities For each of the targeted workplace skills students will complete a portfolio activity that will demonstrate the usage of these skills within the context of the students own experience. 25% Attendance You will be required to attend a live class session each week.; You will complete graded assignments during each live class; If you must miss a class and would like to make up the work, please email your instructor before your class time.; Your instructor may make arrangements to for you to complete the assignment on your own.; Your instructor is not required to provide make up opportunities if you miss more than one class session. If you do not make up missed assignments, you will receive a 0 in the gradebook.; Missing Assignments Assignments are due no later than the assigned due date. If you turn in your assignments late the instructor may award partial credit for late postings and assignments (but not to exceed 50% of the points otherwise earned).; In order to receive full credit for missed work you will need permission from your instructor in writing (for example Canvas Inbox, email, or text); If you are unwell, have a family emergency, or are otherwise unable to complete your work please contact your instructor right away.
