Course Description

Learn to make simple changes to PowerPoints, Canvas pages, concept explanations, etc. in ways that help audiences better focus on what you actually want them to learn, while reducing frustration and distraction. Compare and contrast intrinsic, germane, and extraneous cognitive load.  Identify strategies for minimizing extraneous cognitive load. This workshop is not just for teachers! It's for anyone who has to present information in meetings or memos. NOTE: This workshop will be 45 minutes of presentation followed by 45 minutes for you to put what you’ve learned into action, Please bring a laptop some documents (slides, Word files, Canvas pages, etc.) that you would like to work on. This time will allow you to get advice from us, and to share ideas with other participants.
