Course Description

Examine what it means to be an ally and co-conspirator, learn authentic practices for engaging in allyship for a variety of communities, particularly LGBTQIA+ communities, and determine ways to put knowledge of allyship into action for the AACC community and beyond. Define terms related to allyship, including ally, accomplice, and co-conspirator. Learn good practices of authentic allyship, including avoiding performative allyship or savioring. Understand intersectionality and explore how allies, accomplices, and co-conspirators can challenge bias in themselves and others. Identify the risks and importance of being an ally, accomplice or co-conspirator. Learn how to speak up for and with the communities for which they are allies, accomplices, and co-conspirators. NOTE: Successful completion of XDV-521 AACC Rainbow Network (ARN) is recommend to attending this workshop.
