Google DeepMind AI Research Foundations is a practical, purpose-built AI curriculum to empower skills for high-impact AI research. This technical, university-level curriculum deepens understanding of transformers, and how to responsibly build and fine-tune modern language models through practical activities. Dissect the curriculum, run Keras labs, and debate the ethical implications of the models we build. This learning path explores simple N-grams to training Transformer model. Free access to skills.google is provided as well as any required tools and software. Review NotebookLM as a learning platform. Module topics include: 1) from manual language understanding to statistical N-grams and their limitations, 2) introduction to the Transformer Architecture and training an SLM using Keras, 3) case studies in the Machine Learning development pipeline and 4) innovating responsibly, ethical implications, and defining problem statements for our local context.
