Course Description

Faculty learn to untangle the confusion between assignments and assessments. While they are both crucial to the teaching and learning process, they serve different purposes. Distinguish between assignments and assessments by defining each and identifying their roles in the learning process. Explore how to design assignments that support learning and assessments that measure it, without turning every quiz or paper into an empty assignment. Evaluate course materials to determine whether they function as assignments, assessments, or both, and clarify their purpose for students. Design or revise course elements to ensure alignment between learning outcomes, instructional activities (assignments), and assessment tools. Walk away with tools to align their teaching practices with clearer, more effective outcomes. This is part 3 of 4 of the Learning Outcomes Assess Master Digital Badge.
