Course Description

Engage in honest self-reflection around how our perspectives, assumptions, and reactions shape our interactions with students. Using the Q-TIP framework-Quit Taking It Personal-explore how to pause, reflect, and reframe situations in ways that support more productive, student-centered responses. Through guided activities and real-life scenarios, learn how to separate intent from impact, challenge internal narratives, and approach student behavior with curiosity rather than judgment. Recognize how personal perspectives, assumptions, and reactions influence interactions with students. Apply the Q-TIP framework to pause, reflect, and reframe situations in more student-centered ways. Differentiate between intent and impact to respond with greater awareness, empathy, and effectiveness. Grounded in AACCs commitment to equity, inclusion, and meaningful relationships, the workshop topics emphasize the importance of self-awareness as a critical tool for creating supportive, responsive environments where students feel understood, respected, and empowered to succeed.
