Course Description
Central Sterile Processing | Learn to handle medical equipment in a safe and sanitary manner. Explore methods of sterilization, decontamination, storage, packaging and distribution of both sterile and nonsterile medical instruments. Learn to assess the condition of medical and surgical equipment for sterility and proper function, which can include removing instruments for maintenance or replacement. CEUs issued. $2,050 includes $50 fee. Note: Students must be 18 years old. Note: Full attendance and passing the final exam required. Students are highly encouraged to attend an information session (INF 301: Information Session for Healthcare) prior to enrolling in the program. A limited number of externships are offered, and students will be selected. Selected students must register and pay for externships: STP-505, STP-506, STP-507 and STP-508. Summarize the organization and functions of Central Sterile Processors and their role in controlling infections; Discuss proper storage and transportation standards for supplies in the facility; Identify medical instrumentation and outline their medical use, care and reprocessing requirements; Relate medical terminology, microbiology and infection control principles to central sterile processing guidelines and procedures; Explain safety, risk management protocols, standards and regulations that must be followed during the processing of medical instruments.Applies Towards the Following Certificates
