Course Description

Conversational Sign Language: Level 2 | Examine grammatical structure and signs of American Sign Language and build on foundational vocabulary. Focus on personal qualities and relationships, school and sports, and aspects of time. CEUs issued. $193 includes $10 fee. Prerequisite: CSL-303 Conversational Sign Language: Level 1.

Learner Outcomes

Review and expand upon vocabulary including an additional 290 sign vocabulary and 20 sign phrases; Demonstrate ASL structure including gender distinction, verb conjucation, pronoun numbers, initialization, time, experience and finish sign, classifiers, and tense markers; Identify the Five Parameters of ASL and explain their significance to effective communication; Explore ASL culture including deaf family and friend dynamics, relevant deaf institutions, and historical figures and events that influence today's deaf culture.
