Course Description

Basic Gardening | Learn what makes right plant, right place principles work. Discover how to choose, grow and multiply the plants in your garden. Discuss how to build healthy soil for perennials, trees, shrubs and vegetables, and identify proper techniques for mulching, pruning, watering and maintenance of a thriving landscape. Native plants as well as ornamentals will be discussed. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Discuss plant propagation, pruning, the proper care of seedlings and how to care for newly transplanted additions in the garden; Apply landscape design ideas, theories and problem solving skills to small-scale landscape design projects; Develop an understanding of skills needed to become a successful gardener.
