Course Description

The Biggs Museum and John Dickinson Plantation | Examine two centuries of Delaware-made furniture and decorative arts. Learn about one of our Founding Fathers, John Dickinson, penman of the revolution. $123 includes $42 fee.

Learner Outcomes

Develop an understanding of the role John Dickinson played in the American Revolution; Recognize and describe architectural characteristics of both the colonial and Georgian styles; Examine the building materials, paint colors, brickwork, and construction methods used for this 17th and early 18th century settlement; Describe and evaluate the artwork and collection in the Biggs Museum, including significant characteristics of Delaware and Eastern shore Maryland made furniture; Develop an understanding of the decorative arts and furnishings of the colonial era through circa 1900.
