Course Description

Cardiovascular Conditioning | Learn how to improve cardiovascular and endurance conditioning through concepts utilized in aerobics classes. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Discuss cardiovascular physiology involved with aerobic conditioning; Identify the risks related to and demonstrate safety techniques used in aerobic conditioning; Demonstrate techniques that will improve and/or maintain cardiovascular and muscular endurance; List ADL that enhance heart and circulatory function; Discuss the importance that nutrition has on the functioning and strengthening of the heart.

South County Senior Center | Aerobic Dance | No class May 25 | Try this fun dance fitness class for a whole-body workout for your health, heart, and mind. The fitness class will start slowly and gradually progress. Dance steps and movements will be taught and cued throughout the class. The class includes warm-up dances, several aerobic dances, cool-down, weights, and floor/chair stretches, followed by a recovery heart rate. This is a fitness class for non-dancers where students work at their own level. The main idea is to have fun. Students must be able to stand, walk, move side to side, and get up and down off the floor on their own or with the assistance of a chair.

Pasadena Senior Center | Aerobic Dance | Join our fun dance fitness class for a full-body workout that benefits your health, heart, and mind. The class starts slowly, with step-by-step instructions for each dance move. Omalley | Latin Cardio Dance | No class May 7, 21, 28 and June 4 | Join Sandra for a Latin Cardio dance class which fuse Latin rhythms and choreographed dance moves of following dances: Salsa, Samba, Cumbia Merengue together to create a dynamic workout that is designed for fun and a good workout! Simply put, dance cardio utilizes different types of dances to exercise your body. Students will then progress from basic dance steps to intermediate. Arnold Senior Center | Cardio Beat (Drumming) | No class May 8 | This is a fun standing whole body cardio exercise class. We use noodles to hit chairs as a drum. We move along with the beats of the music. We will do basic aerobics movements between the drumming, and the movements are very simple and easy to follow. This is a great way to get rid of stress and when you are done you have a big smile on your face! If you are looking for a different way of doing some cardio, try this class! Instructor will provide noodles at each class.
