Course Description

Spanish Literature | Read and discuss the main idea, theme, author, and cultural relevance from a Spanish novel. The class will be conducted in Spanish and requires background in the language. Advanced Spanish is a recommended prerequisite or instructor permission. Note: Book selection will be emailed to the students. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Read the Spanish version of a selected novel and demonstrate comprehension through class discussion; Identify and practice new vocabulary found in the selected reading; Construct new grammar structures by examining phrases specific to the Spanish literature piece; Discover and analyze cultural references; Practice Spanish Language skills by discussing the main idea, plot, significance and theme of the story.

Online | Spanish Literature | Read and discuss the main idea, theme, author, and cultural relevance from a Spanish novel. The class will be conducted in both Spanish and English; background in the Spanish language is advised. Advanced Spanish or Intermediate Spanish is a recommended prerequisite or instructor permission. Note: Book selection will be emailed to the students. The book may be read in English; however, the Spanish version will be read in class. | Note: Attendance in online class sessions Wednesdays from 1:30-3:30 p.m. is mandatory for section 201.
