Medicine and War, 1870 to Present | Explore military medicine from 1870 to the present. Focus on the status of medicine in society; the infrastructure of military medical services; types of warfare, weapons, and wounds; and medical/health outcomes. $33 includes $32 fee.

Learner Outcomes

Discuss the major factors of the structure of military medicine across cultures from 1870 to the 21st Century; Identify theories and knowledge of illness, health, medicine, and surgery that inform military medicine across selected cultures; Describe the medical infrastructure in the military, the training and status of military medical personnel in various modern armies; Analyze the impact of the military attitudes toward care of soldiers; Discuss the medical care and rehabilitation of soldiers both during active warfare and after return home.
