Course Description

Baseball in America | Explore baseballs influence on American history and culture and how events in American history are reflected in baseball. $33 includes $32 fee. Note: Requires membership in Peer Learning Partnership (PLP). Biannual membership is $30.

Learner Outcomes

Describe the roots of the game; Describe the development of the game to its present existence, including baseball in Maryland; Discuss the role gambling played in injuring the game and how baseball was rescued; Articulate how baseball became racially segregated and the actions taken to end segregation; Describe the effect that certain American phenomena have on baseball; Identify the ways that baseball has influenced American culture in songs, film, and language.
