Course Description

Basic Home Repair: Carpentry | Learn the basics of home carpentry and hand tool safety. Practice with hand tools used to cut wood, install molding, and hang shelving and cabinets. $54+ includes $24 fee.

Learner Outcomes

Identify basic home tools for carpentry and their use. Examine home carpentry safety measures. Practice measuring for accuracy. Practice using a level. Examine the variety of saws available and identify one specific use for each saw. Practice cutting wood with a hand saw. Demonstrate use of miter box. Demonstrate proper use of drill and change bits. Determine where wall studs are located. Identify steps to installing simple molding. Identify methods to hang shelving.
