Course Description

A Beginner's Guide to Sign Language | Explore the fundamental principles of American Sign Language. Practice the American Manual Alphabet (finger spelling) and introductory conversational vocabulary. Discuss cultural aspects of the deaf community. $119 includes $10 fee. Note: Introductory course designed for students with no previous knowledge of American Sign Language to begin to communicate with deaf individuals.

Learner Outcomes

Demonstrate comprehension of simple greetings and salutations; Initiate a simple conversation with questions and answers; Fingerspell the names of classmates and other commonly spelled 3 and 4 letter words; Identify the cultural beliefs, values and perspectives of Deaf individuals.
