Course Description
Master Class: Judging and Evaluation of Floral Design | Examine floral judging and evaluation categories and learn to see a floral composition from the eyes of a floral judge/evaluator. Discover how personal biases can interfere with objectivity in scoring. Identify basic levels of proficiency in each scoring category and the techniques that would elevate proficiency levels to advanced or expert and faults that would demonstrate a lower level of proficiency. Participate in group and individual scoring of floral compositions. $277+ includes a $20 fee. Note: If you cannot attend, a course drop form must be completed, submitted and received by the college no later than seven calendar days prior to the course start date in order for a refund to be issued. Describe two distinctions between judging floral competitions and evaluating floral compositions for certification; List and analyze three scoring criteria used in Floral evaluation and differentiate the benefits of each; Define objectivity and subjectivity in scoring and identify a strategy to eliminate personal bias when judging/evaluating; Articulate what criteria constitute basic, advanced, expert and below average proficiency in each of ten scoring categories; Evaluate two floral compositions and participate in one group judging exercise.Notices
