Course Description

Tour d Italia: Northern Italy Wines Explore the variety of red, white and sparkling wines produced in the Veneto and Piedmont regions of Northern Italy. Discuss indigenous grapes, local conditions, wine making practices, local cuisine pairings and sample wines. $80+ includes $50 fee. Note: Must be 21 or older to enroll.

Discover the unique aspects of wine grape growing and wine making in Northern Italy; Identify the main wine regions/districts and indigenous grape varieties of Northern Italy; Learn why Veneto and Piedmont are Italys top two wine producing regions; Taste different styles of white and red wines from the Veneto and Piedmont wine regions; Ascertain key characteristics of the Piedmont regions two world famous red wines: Barbaresco and Barolo; Determine some ideal food pairings for Veneto and Piedmont wines; Differentiate between types of sparkling wines made in Northern Italy; Practice reading Italian wine labels and deciphering Italian wine terms.
