Utopian Thinking: Gateway to a New Reality? | The lyrics of John Lennon's "Imagine" guide an exploration of four core concepts in religion (afterlife), politics (states), economics (scarcity), philosophy (self). Can empirical evidence and imaginative thinking discover new realities and a better future? $33 includes $32 fee.

Learner Outcomes

Recognize the role of imagination and play in the development of our concept of reality and the making a better future; Explain the basic concepts & terminology used by an array of academic disciplines with a focus on the following, as highlighted by the lyrics of John Lennon’s song Imagine: Religion and concept of afterlife, Politics and concept of states, Economics and concepts of scarcity, Philosophy and concepts of self (individuality); Compare alternatives to our current narrative of human history, and the implications of such alternatives for our future; Discover a variety of actions taken & being proposed to enact other forms of social existence, and the challenges associated with their implementation.
