Course Description

Professional Welding SMAW (STICK) Part B | Prepare for AWS Certified Welder certification. Learn welding symbols, material specifications, metallurgy of common metal alloys and blueprint reading. Demonstrate fillet and groove welds in carbon steel using E7018 electrodes in all positions. CEUs issued. $3,143 includes $2,524 fee.   Note: Must be 18 or older to enroll. Fire-retardant pants and shirt, hard-toe boots and safety goggles required. Bring welding gear to class.

Learner Outcomes

Interpret AWS Weld and Welding Symbols and differentiate between the metallurgy of common metal alloys; Demonstrate knowledge of basic joints, material specifications, tolerances and general blueprint related knowledge; Demonstrate knowledge of drawing lines and views and identify structural shapes; Demonstrate fillet and groove welds in all positions; Perform welds in 3G and 4G positions on 3/8" plate for the welders certification test.
