Course Description

Notary Public Procedures and Training | Learn how to become a notary public in Maryland. Explore procedures, functions, moral and legal responsibilities, and prohibited practices. Discuss the legal implications of notarial acts. CEUs issued. $101 includes $19 fee. Note: Students must be 18 or older. Satisfies the Maryland requirement to renew a notary commission or to receive the certificate necessary for the application to become a notary. Students must attend the entire course and pass the class exam.

Learner Outcomes

Explain the functions and responsibilities of a notary public; Discuss the minimum qualifications for performing various notary public activities; Describe how to apply for certification as a Maryland notary public; Explain what is meant by appointment procedures; Cite examples of legal requirements in recordkeeping for notaries; Demonstrate familiarity with various notary publications and supply choices; Discuss the areas of job opportunities available to notaries such as in banking, real estate, or legal offices and how notary fees are set.
