Course Description

Advanced Computers for Senior Adults: Safe Installs and Smart Practices | Take control of the computer with confidence and ease. Explore how to navigate and utilize the control panel to better understand system settings; perform routine maintenance to keep devices running smoothly; learn the step-by-step process of installing and uninstalling software applications. Create and manage shortcuts for programs, folders and files. Prerequisite: Students must have taken CTT-936: Windows 10 and 11: Intermediate Level or have instructor permission. Note: Senior Cycle class. Students must be 55 or older by start date to enroll.

Learner Outcomes

Identify and describe at least three key features of their computer system using the Control Panel; Perform basic computer maintenance tasks on a personal device, with 80% accuracy; Explore and launch at least two commonly used software programs, demonstrating basic functionality such as opening, saving, and closing files; Organize and copy a minimum of three files and folders, using both drag-and-drop and menu-based methods, without instructor assistance; Install and uninstall at least one software program or application, following step-by-step instructions, ensuring proper functionality afterward.
