Course Description

The American Working Class | Explore the past, present and future of the American working class, in myth and reality, and how it intersects with identity, immigration and technology. Reflect on the difference between labor and capital, and how both affect personal worth and political power. $33 includes $32 fee. Note: Requires membership in Peer Learning Partnership (PLP). Biannual membership is $30.

Learner Outcomes

Define and discuss different understandings of the working class in American life; Identify historical forces that shaped the working class; Explain contemporary challenges facing working people in the U.S; Analyze how culture and education influence perceptions of class; Describe possible futures for the working class and American society.
