Course Description

Sewing: Design, Sew and Sell, Beginning 2 | Build upon skills acquired in Sewing: Design, Sew and Sell, Beginning 1 (BNS-901). Explore new and varied projects and discuss effective methods to market and sell completed projects. Prerequisite: Completion of Clothing I: Design, Sew and Sell (BNS-901) or Sewing: Design, Sew and Sell-Beginning 1 (BNS-909) or instructor permission required. Note: Senior Cycle class. Students must be 55 or older by start date to enroll.

Learner Outcomes

Review five major parts of the sewing machine and describe three key safety procedures; Build upon sewing vocabulary and name two techniques for choosing the correct fabric for each project; Cut pattern pieces to construct a sewing project and demonstrate the safe uses of rotary cutters; Follow a sewing pattern to complete two sewing projects and list the vocabulary found on each pattern; Identify and describe three effective methods for advertising, displaying, and pricing handmade merchandise to increase sales within local and regional markets.
