Course Description

Beginning French for Senior Adults | Explore the French language. Learn essential vocabulary, pronunciation and basic grammar through engaging activities, cultural insights and everyday conversation practice. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Pronounce at least 20 common French words and confidently speak 5 basic phrases and 5 simple sentences used in everyday conversation; Name and categorize 20 commonly used French nouns, including their gender, plural forms, and list 10 frequently used verbs in present tense; Identify and understand the meaning of expressions particular to certain regions of France; Describe the meaning of at least 5 regional French expressions, including their cultural context and usage; Demonstrate the ability to read and comprehend short French texts.
