Course Description

Conversational French for Senior Adults | Deepen your understanding of French language and culture through structured conversation. Develop practical communication skills by engaging in short dialogues set in authentic contexts such as open-air markets, cafes and restaurants. Examine the linguistic nuances and cultural richness of France’s most iconic regions including Paris, Provence, Normandy and Bordeaux. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 or older by start date in order to enroll.

Learner Outcomes

Demonstrate intermediate-level French communication skills by participating in at least three structured dialogues set in everyday contexts such as markets, cafés, and travel scenarios; Use present, passé composé, imparfait, futur, and conditional French verb forms in complete sentences during weekly writing and speaking exercises; Apply language development skills by discussing at least four topics such as food, art, travel, and fashion using relevant vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and sentence structures; Engage in a 5-minute conversational exchange in French incorporating greetings, questions, responses, and culturally appropriate expressions.
