Course Description

Pre-Apprenticeship Electrical Training Part A | Gain industry knowledge and obtain OSHA 30 General Construction and CPR/First Aid certifications while preparing for entry into a registered apprenticeship. Job placement assistance is available upon successful completion of the program. CEUs issued. $1,870 includes $870 fee. Corequisites: CIT-315 Pre-Apprenticeship Electrical Training Part B, and NRN-332 Heartsaver CPR/First Aid. Note: Must be 18 or older to enroll.  Cost includes instruction, textbook and supplies. There is an additional cost for NRN 332 Heartsaver CPR/First Aid/AED.

Learner Outcomes

Recognize the career paths and trade options in the electrical industry including the Department of Labor requirements and responsibilities of the employee and employer in an apprenticeship; Identify electrical and workplace hazards and their effects on the body;  Describe the typical components in residential, commercial, and industrial wiring systems referencing electrical theories governing the use of series, parallel, and series-parallel circuits;  Describe the safety regulations, standards, and personal protective equipment designed to prevent workplace accidents;  Explain the purpose, navigation, and use of the National Electronic Code (NEC).
