Course Description

Fundamentals of Guitar | Learn the essentials of acoustic guitar playing, including how to strum and/or pluck with basic chord changes and how to play simple one-line melodies. Explore the history and evolution of the acoustic guitar, pick up common guitar terminology and slang, and have plenty of opportunities to ask questions as you build confidence and skill. No prior experience is required. Note: Students should bring their own playable guitar to each session.

Learner Outcomes

Strum and/or pluck the guitar using basic, beginner-level chord changes; Perform a simple one-line melody with proper finger placement and timing; Demonstrate a general understanding of the history and evolution of the acoustic guitar; Recognize and use common guitar terminology and slang in a musical setting; Build confidence in playing independently and in a group setting.
