Course Description

Huckleberry Finn and Jim/James | Read and discuss The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, told through the voice of Huckleberry, a young white boy, and the corresponding stories told by Jim, a runaway slave, in the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel James. Through reading and discussion, explore the same events from the memories of two persons: one, an independent, delinquent boy, and the other, a runaway slave. $33 includes $32 fee. Note: Requires membership in Peer Learning Partnership (PLP). Biannual membership is $30.

Learner Outcomes

Observe and discuss how recollections of the same stories or events can be profoundly different between different people coming to the same experience from different backgrounds; Express how all of mankind can change and grow even in the most challenging circumstances; Evaluate the writing skills of each of the authors.
