A Peoples History of the United States, Part 2 | Using open discussion, explore the contributions, exploitation and impact of immigrant laborers, the working poor, American Indians, African Americans and women on the history of the United States and how their struggles have shaped modern America. $33 includes $32 fee. Note: Based on Howard Zinns A Peoples History of the United States, which portrays the struggle of those who have fought slavery and racism, of the labor organizers who have led strikes for the rights of working people, of the socialists and others who have protested war and militarism. Requires membership in Peer Learning Partnership (PLP). Biannual membership is $30.

Learner Outcomes

Explore a perspective of US History not typically covered in public school; Evaluate how the struggles of African Americans, Native Americans, immigrants, women, and the working poor resulted in safer working conditions, workers compensation, voting rights, and anti-discrimination laws and policies; Assess how movements involving historically marginalized communities have influenced today’s political, cultural, and economic climates; Analyze Zinn’s approach to telling history.
