Course Description

Healthy Living for Older Adults | Increase awareness of the health benefits of exercise through dance, nutrition, and improved health and wellness habits. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 or older by start date to enroll.

Learner Outcomes

Define the concepts of physical fitness; Discuss the value of physical activity and nutrition; Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety precautions; Describe ways of incorporating health and wellness into a lifestyle; Demonstrate techniques for self-assessment.

Omalley Senior Center | Aerobic Dancing | No class Oct. 23, Oct. 26, Nov. 11, and Nov. 27 | This aerobic dance class strengthens the cardiovascular system while toning muscles through professionally choreographed routines by Jacki Sorensen. Easy steps are taught and cued throughout. Hand weights and floor work improve strength and flexibility. Upbeat music carries participants from warm-up to cooldown. Beginner to intermediate level.

South County Senior Center | Tap Dance | No class Nov. 11 and 27 | Come learn fun tap dance routines. Learn a variety of skills and choreographed tap dances. Some tap experience is preferred. Tap dancing will help increase muscular strength, motor skills, cardiovascular conditioning and will sharpen your memory.
