Course Description

Introduction to Music Theory | Discover the fundamental elements of musical composition. Study the essential components of musical pieces which include major and minor scales, internals, chord structures, and basic musical form analysis. Apply theoretical concepts through written exercises and score reading. Note: Some concepts will be demonstrated using violin and keyboard. $79 includes $20 fee.

Learner Outcomes

Identify the fundamental elements of musical composition. Develop proficiency in reading and interpreting music in multiple clefs. Recognize major and minor scales in various keys and explain the relationships among different key signatures. Identify and analyze basic musical intervals, as well as the structure and function of primary chords. Demonstrate an understanding of basic musical forms, including binary and ABA structures, in simple compositions.
