Course Description

Development of the Symphony | Explore how the symphony has been shaped for over 250 years by ever-changing musical tastes and styles. Trace its Baroque origins through the Viennese classical masters and the 19th-century Romantics to the symphony of today. $33 includes $32 fee. Note: Requires membership in Peer Learning Partnership (PLP). Biannual membership is $30.

Distinguish the nature and form of the symphony; Recognize the unique sounds of principal symphonic orchestra instruments; Identify the principal roots of the modern symphony; Practice listening skills needed to appreciate symphonies.
